
Joel enjoys breaking down complex financial concepts to help his clients make informed decisions about their financial future. Working in a fiduciary advisory role, he thinks critically about their financial situation, helping to uncover what’s possible, identifying potential obstacles to success, and creating clear and actionable steps to achieve their objectives. Joel is especially skilled in tax-efficient investment strategies, complex business and estate planning, and qualified and nonqualified benefit plans.
Joel began his career in the practice of law before making a change into the financial services industry in 2016 when he joined Northwestern Mutual as a Financial Representative. In 2018, he took on the role of Wealth Management Advisor with DJM Financial, a Northwest Mutual Private Client Advisory firm. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and he became a CERTIFIED PRIVATE WEALTH ADVISOR® certificant through The University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Joel graduated from Saint Mary’s College of California with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Western State College of Law with a J.D.
Joel grew up in Vancouver, Washington and played baseball in the Florida Marlins organization, an experience that contributed to his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a rigorous focus on fundamentals. Joel resides in Tustin, California with his wife, Mirranda, and their son, Cooper. He is an active member of Compass Bible Church in Aliso Viejo. In his spare time, he enjoys skiing, spending time with his family and trying to fix his horrific slice on the golf course.
